About Frustration: The Trivia Game

The Concept
Frustration: The Trivia Game is based upon the concept of measuring question difficulty based on when questions are answered correctly and incorrectly and correlating that data to create a 100-level ranking system for the questions. For players, the object of the game is to climb as far as possible up the levels by answering questions of increasing difficulty, and to try to beat the game by answering an entire stack of 100 questions.

It starts off so easy... but then it turns on you.
The first few questions should be of the no-brainer level that you can answer immediately off of the top of your head. But, as you climb up the levels the questions slowly get harder, as the background color starts to slowly shift as well. One wrong answer sends you back to the start at level 1, so think carefully as you click.

Don’t forget, this is an open-book test...
Many of the harder questions in the game deal with obscure facts that nobody in their right mind will know from memory alone. You’ll likely never get past a score of about 20 if you play that way. However, if you’re playing the game it means you’re also sitting in front of a computer with a working web browser. Feel free to use the provided Google search to go looking for the information you need in another tab. If you find a difficult question with a low point value, it likely indicates that the answer will be easy to find with just a little bit of effort since several other people seem to already have been able get the right answer.

...However, that’s where the pesky time limit comes in.
The 60-minute game clock is there to prevent you from doing too much research on the fly, because in order to beat the game you have to average a correct answer every 36 seconds. The way to make this work is to quickly click the answers you know off the top of your head, and choose the right search terms and sites to find the answers you don’t without chewing up too much time.

And this is a game that’ll never be the same twice.
Between the rating system that is constantly reevaluating the positioning of the questions, and the fact that new questions about what’s currently newsworthy and popular are frequently added, the game is constantly changing and evolving. Every day you'll find a new challenge here.
